Julian specialises in dry shipping law (charterparty disputes, sale and purchase claims, etc), international trade law (oil and gas contracts) and commercial contracts (joint ventures, technology agreements and construction). He has extensive experience of London Arbitration and of English Commercial Court procedure. He was called to the Bar in 1977. After pupillage at the chambers of Michael Mustill QC at 4 Essex Court he joined a leading P and I Club where he worked as an FD&D lawyer until 1985. In 1985 he joined Watson Farley and Williams and was admitted as a solicitor in 1988. Thereafter he was a partner at Edwin Coe from 1991 to 2000. In 2000 he established his own firm Morgans where he practised for 16 years. He has been an expert witness on English law in a number of high profile court proceedings in other countries.

As well as being a native English speaker Julian is a fluent French speaker and has a working knowledge of several other languages.
